TESTIMONIALS

“I grew up with five sisters who taught me a lot about leadership and determination through sports. As the Texans’ Global Flag Ambassador, I’m excited to help every girl have a chance to be part of the game.”

“Girls flag football is so important because it gives young girls a place to compete, build confidence, and feel like they truly belong in the game. The Houston Texans are making a real impact by putting resources behind girls flag programming and creating opportunities for girls to play at every level. Their constant support helps grow this sport and show girls that football is for them. State sanctioning would be huge for the growth of this sport because it’ll allow more opportunities for girls to play this sport and shows a clear pathway. I was never able to represent my high school for flag football, and the Texans are doing everything they can to ensure that doesn’t happen again.”

“Flag football is the world’s fastest growing sport right now. From becoming a collegiate sport to an Olympic sport, girls around the world are falling more in love with this game everyday. With the help of the Houston Texans, my dreams (along many others) have come true. I had the pleasure of playing for my high school through the Texans league. Why not sanction the game we all love? We’re Next.”

“Sanctioning girls flag football in the state of Texas would mean equal opportunity for our female athletes. As a US Junior National Team player for the last three years, I have seen firsthand just how quickly the competition in this sport is rising. With 17 other states already sanctioned, it is becoming more challenging for our Texas girls to compete at a higher level. We have so many talented female athletes in the state of Texas that deserve the opportunity to earn flag football college scholarships, compete in the new professional flag football league, and to represent our country at the Olympics. Sanctioning flag football in Texas would provide the much-needed support and access for our high school female athletes to achieve their dreams in this sport that we love. I am very grateful and honored that the Houston Texans chose my high school to participate in their first girls flag football pilot season last year. It truly was a dream come true for me! When I started playing this game at the age of seven with all boys, I never imagined the rapid growth and endless opportunities girls would have just 10 years later. I would love for all female athletes in Texas and across the United States to experience the same. Sanctioning girls flag football would mean equal opportunity for all of us…. opportunities to earn flag football college scholarships, compete in the new professional flag football league, and even represent our country in the Olympics. I am looking forward to our second season with Rouse High School participating in the Houston Texans girls flag pilot program. Thank you to the Houston Texans for supporting girls in flag!”

“With the Houston Texans' continuous support of growing girls' flag football, McNeil High School was able to gain the base structure for a flag football program. It was the biggest honor to represent my high school in the past season, as the sport of Flag Football is growing tremendously. Having Flag Football in schools provides an affordable and easier-to-participate-in option for girls who have always loved the sport but have been held back from playing. Not only does it create a separate space for female athletes, but it also empowers young kids to continue pursuing athletics at higher levels, such as colleges and universities. Sanctioning girls' flag football in Texas is also immensely important to the overall growth of Flag Football at the collegiate level. As colleges are rapidly starting flag programs, many high schools have yet to begin a program because the sport is still unsanctioned. Texas is the biggest football state and should be empowering the young female athletes who are craving the opportunity to shine and play the sport that they love.”

“Playing Girls Flag Football for Legacy the School of Sport Sciences truly changed my life. Being able to represent my school meant more than just wearing a jersey; it gave me confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging. Legacy provided me with a platform to grow not only as an athlete, but as a leader and person, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to compete for something bigger than myself.

Before flag football, attending a private NAIA college felt completely out of reach financially. Because I was able to play girl's flag, doors opened that I never imagined possible. The opportunities, exposure, and support that came from playing this sport helped make my college education attainable and altered the direction of my future in the best way.

Sanctioning girls flag football in Texas wouldn’t just benefit the sport itself; it has the power to change lives. It creates real opportunities for young women who may not otherwise have access to scholarships, higher education, or athletic pathways beyond high school. Girls flag football can reshape a girl’s trajectory, giving her options, confidence, and belief in what she’s capable of. I’m living proof of that impact.”
